Little Chief came to me as a 7 year old,
and had been used as a breeding jack. He
had been started in the cart, but had a
long way to go to complete his training.
In fact, he was somewhat of a runaway! I
wasn't sure if I could hold him back,
but I knew for sure he was going to be a
blast if I ever could get him trained!
By the time I did I was well aware that
I had something very special.
Chief comes from the well known Cobra
herd. We were never really able to
figure out where the conformation traits
come from that give Chief the extra
ability to move the way he does, but we
found the same qualities in
Cobra's Randy Travis, and the best
we can figure it comes out of the Little
Joe line. Both Chief and Randy are
exceptional movers, unlike any others I
have ever seen.
Chief's show record is very impressive,
especially considering the competition
in Texas, but my greatest reward is just
knowing him. He loves me dearly, and he
is so jealous when I work with other
donkeys. In short, he is pure
personality! I love Chief, and even
though he is aged, he is still going
strong, and we hope for many more years
in the show ring to show the world how
