Li'l Angels Quincy was not raised on my
farm, but came to me as a 2 year old;
wild, and very afraid of humans. He had
never been handled at all, and he was a
JACK! But I saw something very special
in him, so as soon as he was healed up
from being gelded we began our training.
I had worked with some donkeys that had
never been handled, so I was not overly
concerned about getting control of him,
but that was not to happen easily. It
took some time to earn his trust. But I
liked him so much, I was not willing to
quit, so we just worked through all the
setbacks, and I knew one day he would
decide all of this was ok. When he
finally did, it was like a light went
on, and he was totally different animal!
Wow! And boy, this guy could jump and he
was a great driving donkey! I was never
really intending to show Quincy, I just
wanted to teach him to drive and enjoy a
life with humans. But he always did
extremely well in halter, so we began to
squeeze him in between some of the
others to get some ring experience with
him. He surprised me by doing extremely
well in his performance classes, so we
just kept going.
We are proud to report that he has been
owned by Dee Keithley of Braying Hills
since 2007, and has won many
Championships for her. This guy is super
special. He has become very bonded with
Dee, and loves humans all together. This
is the greatest success story, for such
a lonely little donkey who never liked
humans!
Congratulations Dee and Quincy!
